Molding Objects Exhibition
Year: 2016
Concept, curating and exhibition design: Reddish studio
Commission: Benyamini Contemporary Ceramics Center
The motivation for the Molding Objects exhibition was to show the beauty of molds.
Molds – from different production habitats, materials, techniques, shapes and sizes. They represent beauty in its clearest form – beauty that comes from the inside, from functional reasons and exact planning. These hard-working objects, possessing the amazing ability to create other objects, are always kept behind the scenes with no one to appreciate them.
Exhibiting them in a gallery felt like paying them the respect they well deserve. After a lengthy research, 50 different molds were curated; they all were used locally by factories, artists, artisans, workshops and studios. Each of them holds a fantastic story and together they form a picture of the local industry, production and tradition.
